Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre held talks with visiting Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Mogadishu on Monday.
“I am delighted to receive a high-level delegation from the State of Qatar led by Deputy PM & Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E Sheikh Mohamed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.” Somali Premier said.
The two discussed boosting bilateral relations and accelerating Doha funded development projects in the country.
“We discussed ongoing and anticipated developmental partnerships between our two countries,” Kheyre confirmed.
Qatar’s Minister for transport, communications and ports, Jassim Bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti signed USD 174 million agreement with his counterpart, Maryam Aweys to build a modern port at the ancient city of Hobyo.
The Qatari delegation arrived in Mogadishu on Monday were welcomed by senior Somali government officials, including Deputy Prime Minister, Mahdi Mohamed Guleda at Aden Abdulle International Airport.
Mogadishu and Doha developed close diplomatic and defense cooperation since President Farmajo led neutral stance on gulf blockade on Qatar two years ago.
