Somali FM meets his Japanese counterpart in Yokohama

Somali Foreign Minister, Ahmed Issa Awad has held a meeting with Japanese counterpart, Tarō Kōno in Yokohama.

The two officials met on the sidelines of the 7th Session of the Tokyo International Conference for African Development (TICAD) summit.

The minister discussed ways of enhancing bilateral relations, praising Japan’s stances in support of Somalia and its development path.

During the meeting which took place on Thursday, the foreign Ministers of Somalia and Japan stressed the great importance of opening wider horizons of cooperation in several fields of mutual benefit between the two countries and the two friendly peoples.

Minister Awad is a member of the delegation led by His Excellency President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed participating in the TICAD VII in Yokohama, Japan, from 28-30 August.

TICAD is a multilateral leaders’ forum on African development that was first convened in 1993 in Japan.
