At least six people have been injured after Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted in NGO run centre in Qoryoley town.
According to locals in the town, the IED exploded as the NGO staffers were providing farming seeds and other assistance to the farmers of the town. The victims were rushed to the town’s hospital for treatment.
The security forces in the town have launched operations to hunt down the perpetrators of the attack.
No group has claimed the blast though al-Shabaab previously carried out attacks in major towns in the country.
In 2014, SNA and African Union Mission in Somalia overran Al-Shabaab outposts to capture the key town of Qoryooley in Lower Shabelle.
Located 120 kilometers southwest of Mogadishu, Qoryooley has been under the rule of the group for five years.
Since then al-Shabaab kept attacking the town and the military bases on its outskirts.
