The Government of Kenya will launch its candidature for the United Nations Security Council next.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Saturday saying it will launch for the United Nations Security Council non- permanent seat for the year 2021-22 on the 7th November 2019 in New York.

“Kenya will launch its candidature for the United Nations Security Council UNSC non- permanent seat for the year 2021-22 on the 7th November 2019 in New York.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs tweeted.

The Kenyan delegation will be led by the Minister Dr. Monica Juma and campaign Special Envoy, ambassador Tom Omolo.

The invited guests at the launching ceremony include athletes, artists, permanent representatives, and ambassadors.

Kenya is facing stiff competition from Djibouti which has the support of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, French-speaking nations and some major global powers.

The two East African states faced off at AU vote earlier this year in which Nairobi carried the day but Djibouti vowed to continue the race at the corridors of the UN.
