Galmudug reconciliation committee in Dhusamareb to kick off the process

Members of Galmudug state technical committee for reconciliation are in Dhusamareb, the administrative capital of the state to start the process.

The recently established committee led by the Somali Prime Minister’s peace and reconciliation advisor, professor, Abdirahman Maalim Abdulahi Badiyow was welcomed by the Galgadud governor, Ahmed Ali Jimale.

The twelve-member committee was tasked by the office of the Prime Minister via the Interior Ministry to organize and coordinate reconciliation meeting that brings together communities living in the state to resolve political difference ahead of the upcoming elections.

Somali premier, Hassan Ali Kheyre spent in Galmudug for the past three weeks in an effort to cement reconciliation, peace, and stability in the region.

The federal government and Ahlu Suna religious group signed an agreement to integrate and transfer all local forces into Somali armed forces.

The implementation process is currently ongoing whereby the forces to register, train and equip before they are deployed to various stations.

On the other hand, the Interior Ministry in coordination with regional authorities is working towards conducting peace, free and fair elections in forthcoming weeks.

The upcoming reconciliation meeting slated in Dhusamareb is expected to produce concrete steps towards a long-lasting solution to end the standoff in the state.
