International community delegation led by the UN special envoy for Somalia, James Swan arrived in Kismayo on Thursday.
The delegation which also composed of the head of AMISOM, AU special envoy, ambassador, Fransisco Madeira, and IGAD envoy, Mohamed Guyo held talks with Jubbaland officials led by President, Ahmed Mohamed Islam and Deputy President, Mohamud Sayid Adan.
The discussions between the two sides focused on the realization of a peaceful and transparent process in the upcoming regional polls.
Ambassador Swan and his delegation called upon the leadership of Jubbaland state to give a chance to the members of the opposition candidates in order for them to register by reviewing the conditions set aside for presidential candidates.
On his part, the leader of Jubbaland state, Ahmed Mohamed Islam reiterated his earlier calls saying it is the mandate of the regional electoral body to make changes on the schedule thus his office has no jurisdiction.

The two opposing sides swore corresponding’s of about 75 new members of the regional assembly each on Wednesday.
A statement from the Federal government last week has vowed to turn down the results of the elections if the guidelines of the Interior Ministry will not be followed.
