The United Nations (UN) has condemned the terrorist attack on Hotel Afrik which left many people dead or injured.
In a statement, UN expressed its condolences to the families of the victims, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
“We are appalled by this reprehensible and senseless attack on a venue frequented by innocent civilians, and condemn it in the strongest terms,” the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Somalia, James Swan, said.
In a separate statement, Qatari government has expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the bombing that targeted the hotel, wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the State of Qatar’s firm stance on rejecting violence and terrorism, regardless of the motives and reasons,” Qatar said in the statement.
Turkey which also condemned Sunday’s attack has showrd solidarity with Somali government saying Turkey will continue to stand by Somali government and its people in their fight against al-Shabaab.
According to reports, Al-Shabaab terrorists attacked the Hotel Afrik in Mogadishu on Sunday afternoon, and engaged in an hours-long siege before being dislodged by the Somali security forces.
