The government of UK has announced that it is working with Somali government on means to seek more information about its citizens.
In a statement, British Foreign Office said it is collaborating with the Horn of Africa nation in gathering information.
“We are in touch with the local Somalia authorities and seeking more information following an explosion in Kismayo,” the statement reads in part.
A Briton was among several foreigners killed in a terrorist attack on a hotel in Somalia, according to Jubbaland state leader, Ahmed Mohamed Madobe.
Speaking to the media, President Madobe said al-Shabaab attacks claimed lives of 26 and more than 56 others were injured.
Those killed in the attack included three Kenyans, three Tanzanians, two Americans, one Canadian and one Briton.
The attack which was executed by eight al-Shabaab fighters concluded this morning following hours of siege after the security forces defeated the attackers.
Jubbaland authorities have displayed bodies of people said to be the attackers of the hotel.
Al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the attack saying its fighters killed several government officials and soldiers.
