The government of Somalia will have received other medical supplies from Turkey in forthcoming days.
The supplies will help the horn of the African nation deal with upsurge of the Coronavirus cases mainly in the capital, Mogadishu.
Somalia’s ambassador to Turkey, ambassador Jamal Mohamed disclosed the news of Ankara’s donation following signing ceremony on Saturday evening.
The equipment includes much needed ventilators, diagnostic kits and protective masks.
“I have signed with our brotherly Republic of Turkey another donation of medical equipment’s to boost our nation’s efforts against COVID19.” Ambassador Jamal tweeted, adding “Somalia is truly grateful to Turkey for the lifesaving gifts of Ventilators, Diagnostic kits and protective masks.”
Somalia has registered 18 deaths related to COVID 19 with over 390 positive cases as per the ministry of health latest update on Saturday.
Authorities appealed to the citizens to stay indoors while mosques and other overcrowded religious learning centers were ordered to be closed as night curfew came into effect from 15th April
