About seven mortar shells landed at Halane area which hosts the UN and African Union mission Sunday morning.
According to locals near the compound, the shells landed inside the camp.
The attack happened at about 0600hrs local time and it is not clear the casualties caused by the motor shells.
UN and AU compounds have not been functioning since late last month when the organizations suspended the operations following the outbreak of the covid19 in the country.
In a statement On 28th March, African Union Mission In Somalia (AMISOM) announced that it had suspended the activities in Halane saying the suspension would last for a month.
UN mission in Somalia had also asked its staff to work at home till further notice.
Despite the suspensions by UN and AU mission in the base, yet the base located inside Mogadishu, which operates partially.

Al-Shabaab militant group claimed responsibility for the attack saying their fighters hit the base with several shells.
In a statement posted on the group’s affiliate online media, al-Shabaab said their fighters attacked the base with seven motor shells.
Early March, two mortar shells landed at the area, injuring a foreign national.
The attack which happened in the evening, at led to suspension of operations at Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu.
The group lost control of the city in 2011 after several days of deadly fighting with Somali military and AU forces.
