The government of Qatar has pledged to build a new airport in central Somalia following a discussion between Somali and Qatari officials in Mogadishu.
According to a statement by Somali ministry for Transport, the Qatari government will support the Somali government in the construction of new Airport in Hobyo town of Mudug region.
Somalia’s Minister for Airports Maryan Aweis Jama said the government of Qatar plans to build a new port.
Ms. Jama held meeting with Qatari transport and communications minister, Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti during a visit by a government delegation from the Middle Eastern nation in Mogadishu.
The Qatari group led by Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Monday arrived in Mogadishu, the capital.
