President Farmajo to address UNGA as world leaders troop in New York

Global leaders will gather in New York on Tuesday for the 74th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 74).

The first day of the high-level General Debate will be today where the opening of the 74th General Debate, the UNGA will convene a meeting of the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), which will take place on the afternoon of 24 September and all day on 25 September.

Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo who is already at New York will address the assembly on Thursday, 26 September.

Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Ahmed Isse Awad said, the President will focus the tangible progress made by his government in his speech.

Somali head of state held sideline meeting with officials from Estonia and Ireland on Monday.

President Farmajo briefed them on the progress made by his country on economic development and institutional reforms in the past two years in office.

He is accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister, Ahmed Awad, Finance Minister, Abdirahman Beyle and other senior officials in the Federal Government of Somalia.
