The President of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has invited regional state leaders to Mogadishu for final discussions on the proposed election model.
According to communications from the office of the President (Villa Somalia), the meeting will commence on Thursday to deliberate on the outcome of the Samareb 3 meeting last month.
“The President invites FMS Presidents and BRA Governor to convene in Mogadishu on Sep 10th for a follow-up meeting on the recent Samareb3 agreement to ensure the aspirations of the leadership are captured to achieve timely and inclusive elections for Somalia.” The communications director at the office of the President Abdinur Mohamed Ahmed tweeted.
The leader Puntland Saed Abdullahi Deni and his Jubbaland counterpart, Ahmed Mohamed Islam are already in Mogadishu where they held a separate meeting with political stakeholders including the leaders of the main opposition political parties.
The state leaders from Southwest, Hirshabelle, and Galmudug who are meeting Baidoa are also expected to join the talks in the capital later Thursday.
The outcome of the meeting is aimed to pave way for long-awaited Presidential and Parliamentary election time in Somalia.
