Officials from Somalia and Somaliland meet in Mecca

Officials from the Federal Government of Somalia led by Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Ahmed Isse Awad met with Somaliland President, Muse Bihi Abdi in Mecca.

The two were accompanied by Somali Finance Minister, Abdirahman Duale Beyle, Fisheries Minister, Abdullahi Bidhan and State Minister in the office of the Prime Minister, Abdullahi Hamud, Somaliland Interior Minister, Mohamed Kahin.

They held a brief meeting in Mina as they undergo their Hajj rituals.

The discussions purely focused on the brotherly and people to people relations between Hargeisa and Mogadishu administrations.
It was the first meeting between top officials from both sides since President, Bihi came to office.
State Minister at the office of the Somali Prime Minister, Abdullahi Hamud described Somaliland President as a wise leader who values the connection between brothers on the two sides.

”It was a great honor for me to share coffee with Somaliland President, Muse Bihi Abdi, Interior Minister, Mohamed Kahin.” Hamud posted on his Facebook page.

“President Bihi is an experienced leader who understands the value brotherhood.” He added.

Somaliland recently turned down a reconciliation committee named by President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo to spearhead talks with Hargeisa.
