
The newly elected Galmudug lawmakers have today elected new speaker ahead the presidential election which is expected to take place this month.
Nur Mohamed Ga’al was elected as the new leader of the assembly.
Ga’al who is former advisor at the Prime Minister’s office has garnered 54 votes.
His rival, Abdinadir Adan Osman got 34 votes while one vote was spoilt.
Galmudug parliament is made up of 89 MPs with the moderate Islamist group Alhu Sunna Wal Jamaa allocated 20 seats in a one term deal with the Federal Government.
