At least 39 women of Somali origin have been arrested in Nairobi following operations by the police.
The operations which took place in Nairobi’s Eastlands targeted a wedding party amid dusk to dawn curfew to curb spread of COVID19.
According to sources, the women have since been moved into mandatory quarantine at KMTC at their own cost.
Police officers say they were tipped off by members of the public that the women had congregated at the wedding party early Sunday morning.
The party was still in full throttle by the time police officers stormed the estate on Sunday evening.
Three women attempted to escape the police swoop by climbing into the ceiling but were cornered and arrested.
The past weekend alone, over 147 people were arrested across Nairobi at bars and social joints in disregard of the directives from the Ministry of health.
