Somali federal government has provided USD one million to assist flood victims in Qardo.
The funds were provided to Puntland state authorities under the direction of the office of the prime minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre.
“The federal government has handed over USD one million to Puntland regional state to assist in humanitarian provision for flooding victims in Qardo.” The PM said in a tweet.
The head of state, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has on Wednesday directed relevant federal government agencies to provide urgent humanitarian help to the victims in coordination with regional administration.
On the other hand, Hirshabelle regional authorities have also announced the mobilization of humanitarian support to assist brethren affected by the calamity in the other part of the country.
At least six people were killed scores others wounded with the destruction of structures following flooding in Qardo district after the main bridge in the cultural town was destroyed by the heavy downpour.
