Beileh said government spends about $30 million (USD) monthly on government salaries of which 50 was funds provided by international donors.
“The international donors cut the budgetary funds last August, the government had been doing means and way to pay the salaries, We used funds provided by Saudi Arabia and Qatar years back but the government coffers are now almost finished,” the minister said during an interview with Sheikh Abdi Hersy, a political commentator.
He has urged Somalis in and outside the country to helped the government financially.
“I have opened two accounts, and I need Somalis to contribute. I’ll be briefing the Prime Minister on the updates. I’m calling on every Somali to pay what they can,” the minister said.
The government is today expected to disclose the information of the newly opened accounts, according to the minister.
