A suicide bomber detonated an explosive-laden vehicle outside an army post near newly refurbished Mogadishu Stadium on Saturday.
According to Amin ambulance services, eight were confirmed dead and 14 others wounded after the attacker driving the car targeted the 12th April Somali National Army unit base in the Somali capital.
Somali security agencies sealed off the roads leading to the scene of the attack.
Al Shabaab has claimed the responsibility for the attack saying its fighters targeted SNA 27th division based in Warta Nabada district.
The group was pushed out of the capital ten years ago.
