Hirshabelle regional state member of parliament and state minister for justice, Khalif Mumin has succumbed to Coronavirus in Mogadishu.
Regional state security minister has confirmed his death on Sunday.
The minister tested coronavirus positive two days ago after he was transferred to Mogadishu for further treatment following two weeks of illness in Jowhar town.
Several regional officials who had contact with him were directed to undergo in a self quarantine for two weeks before testing.
He will be the first Somali government official died of virus since the first case was confirmed mid last month.
