United Kingdom Health Minister Nadine Dorries announced in a statement that she tested positive for the coronavirus and is now in isolation, per the BBC.
Dorries reportedly came into contact with hundreds of people since developing symptoms last week — including Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The U.K. currently has 373 confirmed cases and has seen six deaths, per the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins. Dorries is the first known member of Parliament to test positive for COVID-19.
Ms. Dorries, the first MP to test positive, said she had taken all the advised precautions after finding out and has been self-isolating at home.
This comes as a sixth person who died from the virus in the UK, which has a total of 382 cases.
The latest person to die was a man in his early 80s who had underlying health conditions.
A premier league match between Arsenal and Manchester City was also postponed for coronavirus reports.
A number of Arsenal players are in self-isolation after coming into contact with Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis, who tested positive for the virus.
Health officials said the move was a precautionary measure because of the outbreak.
