The Turkish government has extended condolences to the families of the victims killed on Thursday in a heinous suicide attack in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
At least six people were killed and 13 others injured in the suicide bomber that targeted a minibus full of delegates involved in Somalia’s parliamentary elections.
In a statement, the Turkish ministry condemned the Mogadishu suicide bomb attack and shelling of Barawe, a coastal town in the southwest of Somalia.
“We are saddened to receive the news that at least 11 people lost their lives and more than 25 were injured in three separate bomb blasts which took place on the 9 and 10 February in Barawe, Bosaso and Mogadishu cities of Somalia,” said a statement from the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
The ministry has wished for a speedy recovery for the injured victims.
“Turkey will continue to stand by Somalia in its fight against terrorism,” it said.
Al-Shabaab group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
