Three people were critically injured after a hand grenade was hurled at a food kiosk in Kismayo of Lower Jubba region Thursday evening.
A police officials on the ground said that the trio was rushed to the town’s General Hospital where they are now admitted.
“We have cordoned off the area for investigation as we pursue the attackers,” said the police.
The attack was claimed by al-Shabaab saying their fighters attacked restaurant frequented by government soldiers.
Al-Shabaab carries out attacks in major towns and military bases in South and central Somalia.
The group also opted hit and run attacks on AMISOM bases outside Somali capital.
Al-Shabaab lost control of many territories including the capital city after their fighters were defeated in many battles with Somali military.
