Somalia’s upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections will cost 40 million USD, the country’s Finance Minister has said.
In an interview with the state-owned media, Abdirahman Duale Beileh said ninety percentage of the amount will come from international donors.
He said the funds would be used for election activities, such as trips for election commissions, residences, employment offices, mission training and staff allowances.
The remarks by the minister comes days after the Federal Indirect Elections Team (FIET) announced Senate elections.
The process of the elections is expected to commence on 26th December 2020.
The move was opposed by the opposition presidential candidates accusing the government of ignoring to address their concerns.
