The tripartite meeting between the leaders of Kenya, Somalia And Ethiopia has been cancelled after Kenya confirmed first Coronavirus in the East Africa nation.
According to a letter addressed to Somali embassy in Kenya seen by Halbeeg News, Kenya foreign minstry informed Somalia that the tripartite summit will take place next week.
“It will not be possible for the Kenya-Somalia-Ethiopia tripartite summit to take place as early scheduled on 16th March 2020,” the letter reads in part.
The ministry did not slated date for the meeting which was to focus on the tension between Somalia and Kenya.
“The ministry of foreign affairs regrets any inconvenience occasioned and assures to the esteemed embassy that new dates will be proposed in due course,” the letter added.
The decision follows after the first case of the novel Corona Virus was reported in Kenya.
The ministry of health has called for vigilance as the country’s preparedness to handle the disease is now put to test.
The case was of a female passenger who travelled from the U.S to Kenya via the UK.
The ministry announced a ban on all public rallies and meetings.
