Somalia and Ethiopia have agreed to cooperate on security after a meeting between army chiefs of both countries.
According to the state-owned media, Chief of Somali National Army, Brigadier General, Odawa Yusuf has met in Addis Ababa with his Ethiopian counterpart Gen. Birhanu Jula in Addis Ababa.
They discussed the security cooperation between the two nations.
Ethiopia has more than 4,200 troops who are officially serving as part of the African Union Mission in Somalia.
In addition, several thousand Ethiopian troops operate in various parts of Somalia outside the AMISOM mandate but under a bilateral agreement with Somalia.
Ethiopian troops constitute AMISOM’s sixth contingent, after Burundian, Sierra Leoneans, Djiboutian, Kenyan and Ugandan contingents.
