Governor Omar Filish who also doubles up as the mayor of Mogadishu.

A statement from Villa Somalia noted the meeting was based on consensus and key to resolving the country’s electoral stalemate. “

“The President welcomes the efforts of the Heads of Federal States and Government of Benadir Region to attend the conference, as it is now unanimous that this conference is important for the implementation of the country’s elections,” the statement read in part.

The six leaders are expected to deliberate and agree on the way forward on the model and manner in which the upcoming parliamentary elections will be held.
