Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre has officially closed the fourth Somali Partnership Forum in Mogadishu on Wednesday.
The two days’ forum was attended by state officials from 50 countries, international communities’ representatives and more than 200 figures from interested companies.
The conference deliberated on the progress made by the Federal government of Somalia in the key areas such as national development plan, inclusive politics, security, justice and among other areas.
A communique issued after the two-day forum acknowledged the progress made by the leadership of the Federal government in various areas including politics, security as well as economic reforms
“International partners noted that despite advance on a number of key priorities, strengthened political cooperation between the FGS and some Federal Member States (FMS) would have accelerated progress,” the communique read in part.
The admission by the international community that the faltering relations between Mogadishu and regional governments could not be overstated given the absence of two FMS leaders- Puntland’s Abdullahi Deni and his Jubbaland counterpart Ahmed Madobe. The Federal Government maintained it would not recognize the election of Madobe.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, Somali Premier, Hassan Kheyre said his government is closely working with all stakeholders underlining that 70 percent of the Somali population which are below 35 years need to make political progress in order to eliminate exclusive political class in the country.
