Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre held a phone conversation with the director of the World Health Organisation, Dr. Tedros Adhanom on Saturday.
The conversation focused on the ways the two sides can cooperate on the fight against COVID 19 in the horn of the African nation.
Somali premier, Hassan Kheyre thanked Dr. Tedros Adhenom and his organization for providing full support to his country during this critical moment.
” Timely telephone call today with Dr.Tedros thanked him for his offer to fully support Somalia at this critical time, updated him on our response gaps and how to better align WHO support as we jointly fight the COVID19 pandemic.” Kheyre said.
On his part, WHO boss Dr. Tedros Adhenom assured the full commitment of the UN health body to support Somalia’s fight against the deadly virus.
” Thank you for a very good call my brother Hassan Khaire, Prime Minister of Somalia, about the national #COVID19 response and challenges faced. WHO stands ready to provide full support and work together to end the pandemic. Solidarity.”
Somalia has recorded 70 new coronavirus cases on Saturday with three fatalities.
The number of COVID 19 patients in the country now stands at 671 with the death toll of 34.
