Somali PM and EU discuss elections and security reforms

Somalia Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre held talks with the European Union ambassador to Somalia Nicholas Berlanga in Mogadishu on Monday.

The two sides discussed issues related to holding elections on time, security reforms, and completion of the debt relief process.

The European Union envoy commended the leadership of the Federal Government of Somalia for the continued partnership in various sectors including the support for the economic reforms for ongoing debt relief process.

“I had an important bilateral meeting with H.E Nicholas Berlanga the EU Ambassador to Somalia, commended our continued partnerships, discussed further support towards holding national elections, security reforms, and completion of the debt relief process.” Somali PM Hassan Kheyre confirmed on his twitter.

EU envoy also met Finance Minister Dr. Abdulrahman Duale Beyle where they discussed COVID -19 response and the budget support.

“We are grateful for the strong partnership with the EU and its member states assistance including the enabling Budget Support and COVID 19 response in the country.” The Finance Minister said.
