Acting Somalia’s Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister ambassador Ahmed Isse Awad met with United Nations Special Representative to Somalia ambassador James Swan.
The two senior diplomats discussed the recent development of the country including upcoming crucial elections and how the two sides can further strengthen their co-operation.
Acting Foreign Minister Ahmed Isse Awad briefed James Swan on the federal government’s progress so far in the security sector, international relations, the economy as well reconstruction process.
“The UN envoy to Somalia, James Swan, was honored to meet with acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Isse Awad, for a discussion which included a partnership with the UN, national priorities, and current regional developments.” UN in Somalia confirmed on twitter handle.
The United Nations provides keys support in form of capacity and technical to Somalia in the areas of security, economic development, and humanitarian assistance.
