A delegation led by Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is in Kenya capital, Nairobi for United Nations Population Fund’s the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).
President Farmajo and his delegation was received by Kenya’s Transport Minister, James Macharia upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Mogadishu.
Various heads of state and governments including the host, Uhuru Kenyatta and Ugand’s Yoweri Museveni are expected to address the conference.
This is the first visit by Somalia’s head of state to neighboring Kenya since diplomatic row attributed to disputed maritime border between both countries escalated earlier this year.
It is not immediately clear whether the leaders of the two states will meet for discussions at the sideline of conference.
Somalia has strongly rejected calls by Kenya to resolve the maritime dispute outside the court.
The International Court of Justice is scheduled to rule its final verdict on June next year after rejecting request by Nairobi for cancellation for a period of at least one year.
