A military tribunal in Somali sentenced a military officer to death Tuesday for killing a boy in the capital Mogadishu in January, an official said.
In a statement, the court said constable Osman Mohamed Nur was found guilty of murdering late Abdirahman Abdillahi Osman in Kahda District of Mogadishu.
According to the statement, the court received different eyewitness testimonies who conformed that the constable killed the victim deliberately.
Colonel Hassan Ali Nur Shute, the armed forces military tribunal director, said the court sentenced Osman to death sentence.
The killing of the victim took place on January 3rd 2020, according to the prosecution.
Colonel Hassan said the court gives the convict one month to file for an appeal.
Previously, the court had sentenced dozens of soldiers who killed civilians and colleagues to death sentences.
