Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has appealed to the citizens in the country to exercise maximum caution to curb the spread of Coronavirus.
Speaking during his address to the nation since the country recorded the first COVID 19 case; President said prevention is the only option to stop further cases of the pandemic in the horn of the African state.
“We are a developing nation thus our economy and health care system has no capacity to contain emergency situations therefore we will strengthen prevention measures.” The President said.
The head of state urged the citizens to support each other during this global health crisis, while appealing to the business leaders to play their role in the cooperate social responsibly by providing for the less fortunate in the community.
Somali leaders also wished a quick recovery for nationals in designated quarantine medical centers undergoing treatment against Coronavirus.
According to the Ministry of Health, 21 people have been confirmed with the virus since the outbreak in Wuhan China. One death was recorded and one patient fully recovered.
The partial lock-down has been enforced at main cities especially the capital, Mogadishu by security agencies to curb the spread of the virus as authorities consider closing mosques in affected areas.
