Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has today signed an anti-corruption bill into law barely ten months after it was endorsed by the parliament.
According to the deputy spokesperson of Villa Somalia, Abdirashid Mohamed Hashi, the president has commended the bill as it is significant for the nation.
The bill seeks to create an independent body to tackle corruption.
The passing of signing the bill into law is a significant step in the fight against corruption that has crippled the Horn of Africa nation for so long.
The government is expected to start the formation of an anti-graft agency henceforth.
The focus will now shift to the implementation of the law in the federal and member states.
