The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is scheduled to arrive in Dhusamareb, the administrative capital of Galmudug state on Saturday afternoon.
The office of the President (Villa Somalia) which confirmed the news said the head of state will join the Federal Member State leaders to discuss elections.
“President Farmajo will arrive in Dhusamareb this afternoon to attend a meeting between the Heads of the Federal Government of Somalia and the Member States to discuss cooperation between the two levels of government and the upcoming national elections.” Villa Somalia said in a statement.
Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire who is already in the central Somali city is expected to lead senior government officials to welcome the President.
The regional state leaders ruled out the possibility of one man one vote elections in the country during a meeting last week.
A joint communique by the leaders called another inclusive model to be agreed upon by the political leaders before the election slated in February next year.
The speaker of the Lower House of parliament Mohamed Mursal Sheikh has however turned down the proposal by regional state leaders saying they have no jurisdiction under the constitution to decide on the type of electoral model and thus only the parliament can do so.
