Somalia has vowed to secure the engineers and workers of Mogadishu-Afgoye highway construction following recent attacks on Turkish engineers.
At least three killed and 20 others injured last Saturday after suicide car targeted highway workers outside Mogadishu.
In a meeting with police and army chiefs which was also attended by Turkish and Qatari envoys, Somali prime minister Hassan Ali Kheire called on the chiefs to come up with developing a mechanism for the safety of Turkish contractors building the Mogadishu-Afgooye Highway.
The PM emphasised the need for clear to secure the construction work and to make sure the construction work goes on unhindered.
In a statement by his office, the PM underscored the construction of road will not be deterred by any acts of terror.
According to the statement today, the PM urged the contractors to complete the road as it is will be vital in facilitating movement, business development and economic growth.
The move comes hours after Turkish military plane carried nine people including Turkish engineers to Ankara for further treatment.
Speaking the airport, Turkish ambassador vowed that al-Shabaab attacks on construction site will deter the mission of Turkish to rebuild the nation which is recovering from three decades of civil war.
