Somalia’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud Abubakar officially assumed office from his predecessor, Amb. Ahmed Isse Awad on Saturday.
The high-profile ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Mogadishu was also attended by senior federal government officials including members of the cabinet led by Minister for Planning Gamal Mohamed, diplomats, and members from both Lower and Upper House of parliament.
The new Minister thanked President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mr. Mohamed Hussein Roble for the opportunity and trust bestowed upon him.
He also appreciated his predecessor for his professional guidance.
“I thanked Amb Awad for his service. I intend to serve to the best of my abilities for giving him the opportunity to lead the ministry, expressing his hope that much will be accomplished in a march full of dedication to serve the country and the Somali people.”
