Kenyan parliamentarians have debated on the spat between Somalia and Kenya less than a week after Somalia sent Kenya’s envoy home.
Number of Kenyan lawmakers on Thursday called on their government to seek ways to resolve the difference with Somalia.
Mandera North MP, Abdullahi Bashir Sheikh said the diplomatic spare was unfortunate and could create an avenue for terrorists to infiltrate in Kenya.
“This little diplomatic spare should not actually make it like we are enemies between our country and Somalia, So my plea to our government is that we need to resolve this matter as quickly as possible,” he said.
He stated both countries have been engaging trade for long time and people from both countries need to continue the activities for life to continue.
We are trading with Somalia, also we have people coming from Somalia to invest here in Kenya, our love for Somalia is we want peaceful and prosperous country, that can also be said we are part of it,” Sheikh said.
Former majority leader of Kenyan parliament, Adan Barre Duale called on the government ensure security of Kenyans working as the process to mend the diplomatic rift between countries undergoes.
