Somaliland court has today acquitted Abdimalik Oldon who was arrested last August for alleged defamation.
In a statement, Marodijeeh regional court in Hargeisa announced that the prosecutors failed to present evidence showing the charges leveled against Oldon.
The court directed the police to release Oldon.
Meanwhile, the prosecutors have declared that they appeal against the court verdict.
Last August, Somaliland police had arrested Oldan over allegations of defamation.
According to a Facebook post, Oldon before his arrest accused Oldon accused Abaarso School and Barwaaqo university of propagating Christianity in Somaliland, a move that angered the board of the institutions and the parents of the students.
