The security agencies at Galmudug regional state of Somalia issued new step meant to curb illegal ownership of arms in the state on Tuesday.
A statement from regional state internal security Ministry has ordered all firearms holders in the administration to register afresh.
The statement has categorically called upon the residents in Galmudug administered Galkayo to follow the new step meant to strengthen security and stability in the volatile area.
The step will affect private companies and firearm owners who acquired the arms for protection.
Galmudug state experienced killings linked to gangs and terror groups in recent past, the new move by the security agencies is expected to reduce the related crime.
