At least five people including senior officials and civil servants were killed and more than ten others were injured after a blast hit a welcoming event for PM Roble in Galkayo.
Sources say that a suicide bomber targeted the security forces at entrance of Abdullahi Isse Stadium.
The initials reports confirmed that senior military officials including some from the US-trained Danab forces were killed the attack.
The blast also killed former Galkayo mayor, Mohamud Yasin Ahmed.
According to sources, Prime minister, Mohamed Roble was not at the event when the blast occured.
In a statement posted on its affiliate online media, al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the attack.
