Somalia government has called for the implementation of an immediate ceasefire in Southwest state of Somalia following clan-related violence on Friday.
Five people were killed including popular businessman, Ali Haji Marguus who was shot dead by gunmen inside his farm in Baidoa.
A statement from the ministry of information said strong action will be taken from those found guilty in the killings and incitement.
“Federal and regional authorities are closely watching those involve in the incitement and violence, stiff action will be taken as per the constitution.” Part of press statement said.
The Federal government called upon the leadership of Southwest, traditional elders and religious leaders to cooperate with security agencies in apprehending the suspects involved in the attacks.
“The regional leadership, local traditional and religious leaders should cooperate and end the tribal difference in the negotiations table.”
On the other hand, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre sent their condolences to the innocent lives lost in the senseless killing.
The leaders who called for calm urged the residents in the state to coexist peacefully.
