The newly appointed interim director of Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency, Colonel Yasin Abdullahi Mohamud has today assumed office.
In a brief statement, NISA announced that Mohamud has taken up office as the nation’s spy chief.
“The new HSNQ Interim Commander, Colonel Yasin Abdullahi Mohamud, took office at the National Security and Intelligence Command,” NISA said.
Mohamud was appointed last night by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo to replace the outgoing director of NISA, Fahad Yasin.
Two days ago, Somali prime minister, Mohamed Hussein Roble suspended Fahad and appointed General Bashir Jama Gobe to lead the agency as an acting.
It was not immediately clear if General Gobe made his way into intelligence headquarters in downtown Mogadishu.
