Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and his Kenyan counterpart, Uhuru Kenyatta have held talks in Djibouti for first time since Somalia-Kenya diplomatic deteriorated.
The closed meeting brokered by President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti and Ethiopian prime minister Abiy Ahmed reportedly focused on ongoing diplomatic tussle between the two countries.
A communique of the meeting is expected to be released in the forthcoming hours.
Late last month, Somalia expelled Kenyan ambassador and called its ambassador in Nairobi after Somali government accused Kenya of interfering Somalia’s internal affairs.
The relations deteriorated mid this month after Kenya invited the president of the breakaway Somaliland Muse Bihi and subsequently announced plan to open new consulate in Hargeisa.
Since then both side traded accusations with latest on Saturday when Somalia accused its neighbour of mobilisation of militias and military forces at the border.
