Seven children have succumbed to diarrhea in the past 48 hours in Ato division in the Bakol region of the Southwest state.
The deaths were confirmed to the media by district official in the area, Dubad Hassan Aldi on Wednesday.
The acting governor of Bakol regional, Abdullahi Mohamed Nur also reported new cases of the disease in other parts of the region.
Nur appealed to the Ministry of Health to respond to the epidemic before it gets out of control.
He also appealed to humanitarian agencies to help those affected by the waterborne disease.
Lack of clean water and contamination food is suspected to be the main cause of the epidemic.
