Former Hirshabelle President Ali Gudlawe Hussein has been unanimously elected as the new regional Leader of the state.
Mr. Gudlawe defeated only challenger Abdirahman Jimale Osman garnering 86 votes with the runner up security only 13 votes.
99 members of the new parliament cast their votes and no vote was spoilt.
The speaker of the Hirshabelle Assembly officially declared the new Leader.
The competitor congratulated the new regional leader urging him to unite the people in the region.
The new leader thanked Somali security agencies and AMISOM troops for improving security in the state.
He pledged to foster stability, reconciliation, and justice during his reign.
On the other hand, Yusuf Ahmed Hagar Dabaged received 87 votes to become the deputy leader his contender Mohamed Mohamud Mohamed Dheere garnered 12 votes.
