The president of Puntland state, Sa’ed Abdullahi Deni has officially submitted the list of candidates running for the upper house of the Somali parliament Monday evening.
In a statement, Deni lined up 22 candidates among former Puntland President, Abdirahman Mohamed Mohamud (Faroole) to contest for 11 members to represent the state in the federal parliament.
To fulfill the 30% quota allocated women. The among the locked out former senators is ex-prime minister Abdirashid Sharmarke who served last parliament.
