Authorities from Southwest state of Somalia have on Wednesday announced new measures to the curb the spread of Coronavirus in the region.
A statement from regional ministry for transport and aviation has banned public and passenger transport to and from the capital Mogadishu.
Authorities informed the transport sector operators and the members of the public that the order will be implemented from 16 April till further notice.
Officials have also called upon the traders in the region not make any changes on the prices of basic items such food and sanitizers saying most resident cannot afford.
They also warned those who smuggle Khat through the border during the emergency health period to desist adding stiff action will be taken against those who violate the law.
The move comes after neighboring Jubbaland state recorded the first two COVID 19 cases on Tuesday.
The country has recorded new COVID 19 cases this week raising the number of infected persons to 60 with two deaths.
