Mogadishu: Ugandan top official mysteriously dies

Top Ugandan official working under the framework of African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) mysteriously dead in Mogadishu.

Ugandan police Director Peace Support Operations AIGP Grace Turyagumanawe told the media that assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) Edward Bagonza was found dead at his residence in Mogadishu on Saturday.

“He was found dead at his residence in Mogadishu today [Saturday] morning,” he wrote, without giving details of the investigations.

The death of the official comes barely three months after a Uganda soldier shot dead his boss before killing himself.

Ugandan army launched an investigation of the circumstances that triggered the death of two soldiers.

It is not clear if the killing in peacekeeping operations is connected to post-traumatic stress related to the battlefield.

Uganda is the largest troop-contributing country to AMISOM peacekeeping mission in Somalia with over 4,000 soldiers in southern Somalia.
